OpenAI also says it plans to begin testing ad serving in the US in the coming weeks, with the free version and ChatGPT Go subscription . Higher tiers, such as Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise, will remain ad-free.
If you haven’t caught the ChatGPT Go plan yet, it’s a more affordable paid alternative between the free version and the classic Plus subscription.
The tariff with a price of 8 euros per month was launched gradually from August 2025 and from January 16, 2026 it is available in all countries where ChatGPT operates .
It doesn’t offer the full range of features and models available in higher tiers, but it offers a more stable and predictable experience than the free version . It’s designed for users who want paid access but don’t want to take advantage of all the features of a premium subscription.

How ads should work in ChatGPT
According to OpenAI, ads will not be part of or influence ChatGPT responses. They will be clearly separated from the conversation itself and displayed separately . The company also says it will not sell users’ personal data and that the ads will not be about sensitive topics.
Ads in ChatGPT can reach a wide audience
OpenAI has long refrained from disclosing detailed statistics by plan. However, CEO Sam Altman said at the DevDay conference in 2025 that ChatGPT has about 800 million weekly active users worldwide . Since the free version is the main entry point to the service, it is reasonable to assume that any ads would be displayed to a wide audience.
